The Water Conscious Talking Hose

[OPEN ON]
A suburban front yard in the early morning. A man (30s, scruffy beard) stands outside, watering his lawn. Some of the water from the hose is clearly hitting the street.

[CUT TO]
Close-up of the water splashing onto the street.

[CAMERA PUSHES IN ON MAN’S FACE]
The man looks dazed, eyes droopy—he just woke up. Suddenly, a gruff voice with an exaggerated New York accent calls out.

VOICE (OFF-SCREEN)
"Hey, hey you!"

[CAMERA STILL ON MAN’S FACE]
The man’s face becomes visibly confused, eyes widening in shock.

[CUT TO: THE HOSE IN MAN’S HAND…]
The man is still holding the hose, watering the lawn/street. The hose is stationary. It is implied the voice came from the hose.

[CAMERA CUTS BACK TO THE MAN’S FACE]

HOSE (VOICE OFF-SCREEN)
"Pay attention while you’re watering, will ya!"

[SMASH CUT TO BLACK SCREEN]
Bold, eye-catching text appears:

"Did you know that nearly 50% of outdoor water use is wasted due to inefficient watering practices?"

[SMASH CUT TO SECOND BLACK SCREEN]
Bold, eye-catching text appears:

The Housewarming Party

[OPEN ON]
A sunny backyard. A couple (30s) stands by a barbecue, grilling and chatting. Their lush, green lawn stretches behind them. Friends mingle, drinks in hand. A neighbor (40s) walks up, admiring the yard.

NEIGHBOR
"Nice lawn. What’s your secret?”

MAN (grinning, proud)
"Oh, it’s a little thing I like to call hard work. Wife and I water it for hours every day, don't we honey?

WOMAN (chiming in, excited)
"Seriously, like hours."

[CLOSE ON: NEIGHBORS FACE]
The neighbor’s expression shifts—less impressed, more… confused.

[OFF-CAMERA VOICE]
(Dry, unimpressed, exaggerated New York accent)
"Excessive, right?"

NEIGHBOR
Glances around. “Who said that?”. He sounds perplexed.

[CUT TO]
A garden hose, coiled on the ground, its nozzle slightly tilted… like it’s looking at them.

[MAN, WOMAN, AND NEIGHBOR]
(Slowly turn their heads to the hose, eyes widening.)

[SMASH CUT TO BLACK SCREEN]
Bold, eye-catching text appears:

"Overwatering lawns can lead to root rot and poor plant health, causing more water usage to compensate for a stressed lawn. A stressed lawn can require 50% more water than a properly cared-for one."

[SMASH CUT TO SECOND BLACK SCREEN]

 Bold, eye-catching text appears:

"Every Drop Counts." Includes *Alliance for Water Efficiency* Logo

[CUT BACK TO THE PARTY]
The mood is exactly the same—people chatting, grilling, enjoying themselves. The neighbor leans toward the man, lowering his voice.

NEIGHBOR
"Did that hose just talk, or…?"

Flow State

[OPEN ON]
A sunny backyard. Two men sit cross-legged on the grass, meditating with their eyes closed. One is a stereotypical hippie yoga instructor in loose, flowing clothes. The other is a painfully normal-looking guy in a polo shirt and khakis. The lawn they sit on is lush and green.

YOGA INSTRUCTOR (Soft, zen-like tone)
“Congrats on the new house.”

NORMAL GUY (Slightly exasperated, still calm)
“Thanks, it’s actually my first.”

YOGA INSTRUCTOR (Maintaining zen tone)
“Must be stressful, like managing everything.”

NORMAL GUY (Relieved to talk about something, but tired)
“It is, man. I watered my lawn like… 12 times today. Just really want it to look good.”

YOGA INSTRUCTOR (Still in his zen tone)
“Don’t think you’re supposed to do that, bro.”

[RANDOM VOICE OFF-CAMERA] (Slightly sarcastic, strong New York accent)
“I’ve been trying to tell him that.”

[CUT TO ANOTHER ANGLE SHOWING A HOSE BESIDE THEM]
A garden hose coiled on the ground.

YOGA INSTRUCTOR (Still zen, nodding slowly)
“That’s what’s up, bro.”

He reaches out for a fist bump... but the fist bump is never returned.(Hoses can’t fist bump)

[SMASH CUT TO BLACK SCREEN]
Bold, eye-catching text appears:

"Overwatering not only harms your lawn by suffocating roots, but it also wastes precious water, contributing to water scarcity"

[SMASH CUT TO SECOND BLACK SCREEN]
Bold, eye-catching text appears:

"Every Drop Counts." Includes *Alliance for Water Efficiency* Logo

[CUT BACK TO THE BACKYARD]
The mood remains peaceful. The yoga instructor pulls his hand back slowly after realizing there’s no one to fist bump. His eyes are still closed, and he holds the position in silence.
